The Cedar Rapids River Kings have signed defensive back Brad Muhammad to their 2019 Indoor Football League season.

The 5’10, 195-pound corner will be entering his rookie season in professional football with the River Kings, after having earned a scholarship at Florida Internal University his senior season. Muhammad was previously a walk-on for the Panthers.

In his senior year he totaled four interceptions, ranking second in school history in a single season, including one returned for a touchdown in FIU’s 41-30 win at Marshall. He also recorded a career-high 10 tackles in the contest. Muhammad was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for his effort.

After the season, Muhammad was named to the 2017 Conference USA Second Team, wrapping up his season with 51 total tackles and helping the Panthers to an appearance in the 2017 Gasparilla Bowl at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Originally from St. Petersburgh, Muhammad racked up 904 yards and 11 touchdowns on 45 catches during his senior season at Admiral Farragut Academy. He also He played corner and returned kicks, earning Class 2A first-team All-State honors. Following his prep career, Brad converted to the defensive side of the ball full-time.
